Surprised by the size of America’s foreign aid parcel?? You’re not alone.
Most Americans think the US is spending 25% of our budget on international aid work a every year. In reality, US foreign aid is only $19 billion, that’s only 0.6% of our budget or about $61 a person.
As we continue to look for budget cuts, let’s fight our deficit by looking at the $698 billion gorilla on the left.
What would you spend your personal cash on? $61 on disaster relief, fighting poverty, preventing child mortality and human rights OR $2,243 on war, arms, and the State Department? (via GOOD)
